| The Longmeadow Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (UCC), has been witnessing Crist's love in this community and the world for over 150 years. Organized by sixteen members of the Presbyterian Church, it was first known as the Second Congregational Church of Chester, prior to the incorporation of the town of Auburn. The Church was built where it now stands in 1847.
We are a full member of the United Church of Christ, which was formed in 1957 by the union of the Congregational Christian Churches and the Evangelical and Reformed Church, USA.
We are an autonomous Church, with full control over our statement of Faith, our organization, our finances, and membership requirements. We call our own Pastor, decide on our outreach beyond the local Church, and recognize no Church authority beyond our own parish.
At the same time, we enter into a voluntary covenantal relationship with the Rockingham Association, UCC, the New Hampshire Conference, UCC, and with the national United Church of Christ. We pledge annual financial support to these bodies. We also voluntarily support other ecumenical and interfaith groups locally, such as clergy groups, local mission work, special needs of people locally, and similar activities.
We profess our faith in God; Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit. Our Church recognizes Jesus Christ as our Head, and the Holy Spirit as our continuing guide and power in daily living.
We are a warm church where visitors soon become friends, and where caring for each other is a way of life.
